Gulfstream Donates 5,500 Square Yards Of Carpet To Local Organizations
Carpet is Recycled from Gulfstream's Workshop Held at the New Savannah International Trade & Convention Center
Savannah, GA, June 15, 2000 -- Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD),has donated 5,500 square yards of carpet to local organizations. The almost new carpet, recycled from a Gulfstream function last week, was distributed to the groups following the event.
"After using this carpet at our most important function for customers, we were pleased to be able to recycle a large amount of it and make some local organizations extremely happy," said Marsha Grovenstein, director of community relations and employee programs. "That's a good day for all of us when we can donate to the community."
The organizations receiving carpet included:
- St. Martin Deporres Society (Kids Café)
- Life Bridge Ministries
- Girl Scouts Council
- Teen Challenge
- Memorial Day School
- Bethesda Youth Organization
- Oglethorpe Academy
In addition to the carpet, all surplus food from the event was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank for their Kid's Cafe program.
The carpet and food were donated from the four-day operator workshop. The annual event, held for the first time in the new Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, attracted Gulfstream aircraft operators and maintenance personnel from around the world. Workshop sessions featured operational reviews, pilot sessions, company and service overviews and in-depth technical briefings. Gulfstream sponsors the workshop with 38 of its revenue-share partners, suppliers and service providers.
